    So, you did:
    Code:
    rm ~/.kde/share/config/*
    and:
    Code:
    rm -R ~/.kde/share/apps/amarok
Starting Amarok recreates the folder and files, and you had no more problems crashes in Amarok? Does that include crashes when skipping forward or backwards to other music tracks?

No. All it stopped was the crashes every time I started Amarok. That started happening after updating to SC4.4. The Music CD issue still persists.

Okay. Yeah, not being able to play ones music CDs reliably with Amarok is a real disappointment. Version 1.4 worked well AFAIR.

Dear Snowhog, thanks for redirecting me to this link =)

However doing what Moonrise did don't resolve my problem with Amarok crashing at launch =(

I want to mark a point being a green n00b as I am; you should never delete anything until you know it's safe. I think renaming both directories and the three remaining amarok*rc files should be enough to test the trick.

Thanks anyway, I hope they release a patch sooner than later 8)

One doesn't have to 'delete' - you can 'rename' instead. This way, you still have the file should you need it.

Sith I think this was my issue. I has that script when all of the startup issue occurred once I went to SC4.4. Of course doing what I did effectivly removed that. I haven't installed it again, but with what you have stated there, I don't think I will.

Kubuntu plasma defaults / plasma widgets from the

Plasma in 4.4 has the ability to include some plasmoids in the
systray. Our default config is now made with the new Plasma scripting
interface and adds battery, device notifier and message indicator to
                  the systray....

For upgrades I think we should move these plasma widgets from the
                  panel into the systray...

                      Hi,

how about Feb 25th for tagging KDE 4.4.1 and March 2nd for 4.4.1 release? Does
                      this match expectations?

I couldn't find much really, I guess some of the stuff marked as "in progress" here:
                          http://techbase.kde.org/Schedules/KDE4/4.4_Feature_Plan

But mostly, I guess, stabilization and fixes, which should make for a perfect Lucid release (which I am testing and loving, but it has a little rough edge here or there in KDE4.4).

                          Cheers!

                            - Fixes - all bugs that are fixed at the tag moment.
                            - Backports - small backports from the KDE 4.5 ( > KDE 4.5 Feature Plan).

Yes. I added these dates to the 4.4 Schedule [1] and also added dates
for the 4.4.2 and 4.4.3 releases. As follows:

                            February 25th, 2010: Tag KDE 4.4.1
                            March 2nd, 2010: Release KDE 4.4.1

                            March 25th, 2010: Tag KDE 4.4.2
                            March 30th, 2010: Release KDE 4.4.2

                            April 29th, 2010: Tag KDE 4.4.3
                            May 4th, 2010: Release KDE 4.4.3

If needed there could be KDE 4.4.4, KDE 4.4.5, ....

Canonical, why do you guys want to get rid of me as a user? Just wondering because Java is very damn important to me, and Sun Java is the only one that has ever worked for me out of the box.

I've read all the linked threads, and I am still baffled by the decision to move Sun Java to a partner archive in favor of OpenJDK. What exactly is the logic?

I suppose if OpenJDK has progressed enough to be a fully functional substitute then everything will be fine. That is a big if though, and last time I checked is was not good enough.

Edit: In light of Kubicle's thoughtful response I retract the reactionary portion of my comments, but my doubt and hope remains.

I'm all for choosing the "free" alternatives when possible.

AFAIK, Sun's java will be available from the partner repository in case one needs it.

I've used OpenJDK for a while with no issues, but my Java needs are very modest...so I can't really say if it is up-to-par with Sun's java.
