In the hopes that this flops over to page 42 ( and who doesn't like 42) I'll chuck in a little explanation.
When you were booting the console was defaulting to a too low resolution to allow the Plymouth loader screen to show. It took me much too long to realise what meant by scrolling DOS screen or I'd have mentioned the fix a long time ago
It may be taking a little longer to get to the login screen now as Plymouth has to start up and stop. For interest, you can still see the scrolling text by pressing Esc.
@Qqmike: The terminal is simpler, it just doesn't look like it. Well as long as you don't accidentally wander in to the realm of vi.

Guess what? Had my pc turned off over night, just now turned in on, in a few seconds it opened the boot option page, selected ubuntu, and bam, my desktop! As soon as desktop appears, bam, it's ready to work in! No delays of any sort! Geez I'm good.
Now I haven't the foggiest of what ya'll were speaking of regarding resolution. Does scrolling DOS screen have another name that perhaps folks with lesser backgrounds than us would know it by?
