    Beta

    Warnings
    • This is a beta release. Do not install it on production machines. The final stable version will be released on October 29th, 2009.
    • This is a beta (pre-) release. Pre-release versions of 9.10 are NOT encouraged for anyone needing a stable system or for anyone not comfortable running into occasional, even frequent, breakage. Pre-release versions of 9.10 ARE recommended for Kubuntu developers and those who want to help in testing, reporting, and fixing bugs.

Nice post, Rog131. Read it all.
Got one month to go, but I have not seen any significant progress on the GRUB 2 Manual this past few months. Seems a starting point could be the GRUB Legacy Manual. The new Manual doesn't even have an outline yet. Just an observation, not any rant. A Manual is fairly important for a new boot loader for understanding any subtle/technical aspects known to the developers but not obvious otherwise.

But, yes you are right, the manuals are usually one or two steps behind the applications. Maybe we will get a manual with the 'buntu 10.10 (Mighty Macaque /1/ ?)

Ha! @ Rog131 ... yep, I think MY guide is a good place to start .
I'm wondering, though, because GRUB 2 looks TOO easy, too straightforward, except for the new way to change the configuration file and a few commands that are new. In other words, I'm suspicious that I've missed something! some subtlety or something ...

Steering toward the topic again :P

KDE 4.3.2 is making it to the repos. Once again hold the upgrade until you can get all KDE essentials to 4.3.2 (to avoid breakage)

With the release of Ubuntu 9.10 just over two weeks away, it will shortly
be time to freeze the archive to limit the number of last-minute changes
entering the release. On Thursday, October 15, the archive will be frozen,
after which uploads to main will require approval from the release team and
should be done only for changes which are critical for the release...

                              Reversions

                              > [ubuntu/karmic] qt4-x11 4.5.3really4.5.2-0ubuntu1 (Accepted)
Revert back to 4.5.2. Our 4.5.3 package does not compile in the
build daemons and we are unable to recreate the problem so a
                              solution looks unlikely before freeze.

                              Frozen

                              Thu Oct 15 08:28:09 BST 2009

We are one week out from the 9.10 release candidate and two weeks from the
final release, so the archive is now frozen and will not thaw again before
                              release.

During the freeze, all uploads to main must be approved by a member of the
release team, so if you have fixes that are important to get in and will
need discussion, please do get in touch as soon as possible. Uploads to
main should at this point focus on release-critical bugs only...

                                Hello Kubuntu users!

As you may know, Thursday 22nd October we are releasing Kubuntu 9.10
Release Candidate. This is a very important milestone, as it will be
very similar to final Kubuntu 9.10 (between them, only very critical
                                fixes will be accepted).

For the 9.10 release we are having very little coverage of Kubuntu
images and we would need a harder effort for the RC milestone.

                                To help, you will...
