can't install new version of Haruna

Can you explain to me why I can't install new version of Haruna, My ubuntu.sources file is:

    URIs: http://archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu
    Suites: resolute resolute-updates resolute-backports
    Components: main universe restricted multiverse
    Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/ubuntu-archive-keyring.gpg
    Types: deb
    URIs: http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/
    Suites: resolute-security resolute resolute-updates resolute-backports
    Components: main universe restricted multiverse
    Signed-By: /usr/share/keyrings/ubuntu-archive-keyring.gpg

    I entered net disk:
    archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/pool/universe/h/haruna/
There I see Haruna version 1.8.1
And I wrote in Konsole: sudo apt install haruna=1.8.1
But reply is: Error: Version '1.8.1' for 'haruna' was not found
Can you explain to me how I can install Haruna version 1.8.1.

You won't get newer versions of things in the normal repos, this is by design.

So haruna in 26.04 is at 1.7.1 in Plasma 6.6 LTS

Now, Ubuntu's Backports also will not actually have much in it, and won't often have any software for Plasma/KDE in it.
As you can see, there is no haruna in Ubuntu's backports section:

    arm@arm-mini:~$ apt policy haruna
    haruna:
    Installed: 1.7.1-1ubuntu3
    Candidate: 1.7.1-1ubuntu3
    Version table:
    *** 1.7.1-1ubuntu3 500
    500 http://au.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu resolute/universe amd64v3 Packages
    100 /var/lib/dpkg/status

If you want a newer version, you will want to use Snap or flatpak, 1.8.1 is available there. You can do so from Discover.

Now, there is a PPA unrelated to Ubuntu's official backports repo called Kubuntu Backports. This won't have anything fresher for LTS, just some point release stuff before it is moved into the main archive at this stage. Normally, this can have newer Plasma stuff taken from the current in-development release backported to the cueent non-LTS release.

May be someone can tell me why I can't install older version of haruna. For example I write
      sudo apt install haruna=1.4.0
and the reply is the same:Error: Version '1.4.0' for 'haruna' was not found

For the exact same reason you can't install a newer one: there isn't one in the archive for 26.04.

        Apologies for not mentioning this:

Yes, this version is in the "pool" but if you look at the actual packaging and repository configurations, this is for the upcoming 26.10 release.

Look at my result from apt policy in my previous post. It shows all the available versions for your Ubuntu release. There is only one version available in Ubuntu for 26.04.

Again, if you want a newer version, you need to use flaptak/snap, or wait for 26.10 and upgrade the OS. Probably this coming week.

If you want an older version, you most likely will need to compile the source code, assuming it is compatible and can build with the newer libs and dependencies you have in Resolute.
