    Is this Krusader? What changed?

    Catchy subject title, huh?

    Been awhile since I've used Krusader. Used to use it a few years ago a lot for accessing and modifying files as root, like /boot/efi.
    So, today, I installed krusader through Synaptic.
    Opened it. And all I see is a menu of icons at the top. Back Up Home Select All Reload Text File etc. etc > >
    Nothing about "Tools" (>run as root), or anything like that.
    I've tried several things to get at it, like
    -- rt-click show hidden menu (or whatever) -- this is not working;
    -- edited the .config file krusaderrc for menubar=enabled (it had said "disabled");
    -- configure the main toolbar -- there was nothing like Tools or Start as Root etc.

    Is this a "full version" of Krusader? or what am I missing here? or do I need to put this down for awhile and come back to it?

    BTW, in K 22.04 here.

    I just now installed krusader via the CLI on 24.04. This is what the initial screen looks for me when I launched it.

            If I hit Ctrl+M, I get a bunch of stuff, but nothing like Hidden menu.
            Usually, Rt-Click > show hidden menu works for many apps like Krusader, but not for me here.
            Don't see any setting to show menubar.

              can you perhaps post a screenshot of the main window?

                One second ...
                OK, I did rt-click that icon bar, then Configure Toolbars
                then got a window: Main Toolbar and : pane: Available Actions and pane: Current Actions
                AND, strangely, THIS time, I do see under Available Actions > Start Root Mode Krusader, and I do also get that window that Snowhog posted above.
                Putting Start Krusader as Root into Current Actions and trying it did work to get into the forbidden file /boot/efi.

                But them I did find and clicked Show Main Tool Bar, andall my toolbars vanished for Root Mode, and I can't undo or get back.

                OK. That's it. I gotta uninstall this and re-install and start over clean.
                Thanks so far, guys.
                I'll post back as needed.
                Wonder if this is just 22.04? But then I used to use even older K versions, going back many years.

                  or try to reset the configuration 1st maybe ?
                  close krusader and run
                  Code:
                  mv ~/.config/krusaderrc ~/.config/krusaderrc.bak
                  krusader

                    OMG. I completely Removed it (with Synaptic), Installed it fresh, tried re-install, ...
                    Nothing is working to get even an icon menu or any menu at the top of the Krusader window.

                    Guess what?

                    I forget what this feature is called, claydoh mentioned it once.
                    Looking at my PC screen, looking at the Krusader window, I see NO tool bars and no way to rt-click etc to turn one on.
                    HOWEVER ...
                    Looking at my entire PC screen, across the top, there is a blackened strip going across the top of the screen.
                    Within that strip, starting at the left, is the main Krusader toolbar (in words, not icons):
                    File Edit Go User Actions Tools ...
                    and under Tools is the Start Rootmode Krusader.

                    I didn't do anything to cause that feature to work, but that very top-of-screen menu bar also appears for other apps, like Libre Office Writer.
                    And that top-of-screen main menu bar only shows any options (in words) when I click on the app (in this case, the Krusader window);
                    otherwise, that menu bar is grayed-out. So that menu bar looks like it is part of my Desktop, if that makes sense.
                    I'll try for a screen shot.

                    It's not even beer-thirty yet, but ...

                        That (above) is the full PC Desktop showing at the very top the menu bar for Krusader.

                            Right-click below Krusader and you should see a pop-up window with Main Toolbar Job Toolbar Actions Toolbar. Likely for you, all three are unchecked.
