on screen keyboard?

I am new to Kubuntu, just installed it today, and got the surface pro touch screen and pen to work. Kubuntu does not have an on screen keyboard out of th box. Is there a recommented keyboard to use? I have never used KDE either. I am liking this OS, have tried Ubuntu, then Elementarty OS, and Kubuntu this week, I hink Kubuntu is a keeper.

Are you using Wayland or X11? It might make a difference. Also, I doubt the virtual keyboard is installed or enabled by default. Try this?

TBH< I just downloaded Kubuntu and installed, I did not know there were options. It appears I am using Wayland according to

echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE

I will assume this is Kubuntu 25.04 and not 24.04 and Plasma 5?
You will want to install maliit-keyboard, for some reason this is not included by default?

After that, you can find it in System Settings
