Do you use uBlock origin in advanced user mode?

I do. I just prefer the simpler interface of NoScript. UBlock requires drilling down a series of screens for configuration, which slows down my work flow. NoScript keeps the important config on the popup (hover to view).

There is probably not a whole lot of difference in actual functions, but the interfaces are different enough to push me toward NoScript.

Agreed, the default theme felt like a step backward in layout design. Rectilinear boxes probably give a tiny increase in usable space, but I don't really run into lack of space in my daily browsing and design work.

So we wait to see how it turns out. I give them at least six months to iron out the wrinkles which users really don't like or simply don't need.

well got it (Firefox-57) today on my Kubuntu-17.10 install ,,,,,,it's working just fine ,,,,I have NO add-ons ,,,,as to speed ? I don't see much difference from ver-56 , it opened tabs quite fast on my box .

it dose use a tad less ram but nothing to shout about . the layout is ok to me but I am no power user just a casual browser .

Which (for some reason) raises a question for me. In 14.04, in Muon, what does the icon (on the Muon toolbar at top) "Full Upgrade" mean? Does that upgrade 14.04 to the latest Kubuntu version? or does it upgrade all currently upgradable packages (staying with 14.04)?

There's a chance that the person who complained in https://www.kubuntuforums.net/showth...irefox-Strikes had Firefox direct from Mozilla in which case the update is downloaded "in the background" and applied when the browser is next restarted.

In Muon Package Manager, 'Full Upgrade' means "intelligently handling dependencies" when upgrading installed packages, even if it means removing existing packages in order to do so. Standard 'Upgrade' will only upgrade installed packages "IF" it can be done without removing existing packages. That's why it is advised (by many; moi included) to not use upgrade, but to use full-upgrade instead. The likelihood that you'll 'bork' your system is much less using full-upgrade (or, if still using apt-get, "dist-upgrade").

Which if true/is the case, supports the position to "install from the repositories when available" as opposed to installing from a downloaded package.

all currently upgradeable packages with removal and additions (as in dist-upgrade) wile keeping you at 14.04.

Thanks, Vinny. I'm not getting the Muon updater notifier pop-up in the tray, but Muon does show FX and 15 other upgrades available (including flashplayer). If I don't see anything tonight, I'll click the Full Upgrade icon tomorrow; however, I use NoScript, and so will have to do without that for awhile, as it doesn't seem to work with the new FX (according to posts above). (Or ... I could use CLI and do whatever-the-h*ll I want to, whenever ... )

The extensions I am interested in were all updated and work, Tree Style Tab, Facebook Tracker and Ad removal, Ghostery, uBlock Origin, Javascript toggle and Videodownload Helper.

Remove Ghostery, it's a tracker now, and uBlock does all the proper blocking. You don't need two. I found that out on the https://www.reddit.com/r/uBlockOrigin/ page.

FYI, I heard rumor that NoScript was not going to update.

Good to know. I actually useYesScript because I need less functionality from that type of addon, hopefully this gets updated. I may end up installing NoScript since it may be the only option.
