    DigiKam broken

Digikam was working fine before the last update but now it just crashes and burns.

Starting it from Konsole, I get this:

    Code:
    [wayne@Wayne-IdeaCentre ~]$ digikam
ASSERT failure in KCatalogPrivate::setupGettextEnv: "You need to instantiate a
Q*Application before using KCatalog", file ./src/i18n/kcatalog.cpp, line 306
    Aborted (core dumped)
    [wayne@Wayne-IdeaCentre ~]$
Constant change is here to stay!

Could not even get the downloaded program to install here. Wondering if it may be a wayland thing.

The neon packages installed and run fine for me here.

Downloaded? What do you mean here? Should either be neon's debs from the repos, or flatpak/snap. Appimage, perhaps? Sometimes, those are just broken, depending on how they were made.

Wayland won't have an effect on this.

I see the same error on the KDE neon (latest user edition) as well.
Have you had any luck inn fixing it?

Enabled flatpak on Kubuntu 25.10 and installed digikam and it works fine. Big file though. But it will work.

It's broken in Wayland and X11. I refuse to install Snaps or Flatpaks!

That's your choice. but the flatpak works. Hope you find a solution that works for you.
