    Really? In 2024?

    I thought Ubuntu only supported 64 bit kernels, and IIUC they all have 64 bit time_t.

    TL/DR It's because some Linux file systems use 32bit date encoding and it runs out of numbers Jan 19 about 3am, 2038

    For what it is worth, I believe they began the 22.04 process at a similar point.
    However, they do have a bit more of a reason or desire to step it up a little, it seems - making the fairly rare blog post alone says something towards that
