About 6am this morning my 16GB swap filled to capacity and plasmashell crashed.

I removed the Media Frame widget after reading the bug report linked to above and noticed a hint about that type of widget causing memory expansion. This seems to have slowed down the memory leak considerably. With it running, I would run out of memory within a couple hours of log-in. Since removing that widget the growth has slowed remarkably. It still seems to be using more memory over time, but not excessively. I've even seen it drop back after closing an app. One thing I've noticed is free memory is less than 500MB but there's 11GB in cache, which I think is OK.

I left it up all night after removing Media Frame widget and the memory used went down. It appears the issue is that widget.

It's also called the Picture Frame Widget. How is it different from the desktop image setting, which I use all the time without problems, that allows pictures or slideshows on the desktop without the Picture Frame Widget being installed?

November 2017- It's still happening on neon 5.11.2. It is NOT limited to slideshow on my end. triggering kde launcher thousands of times will make memory tick up by ~ 500k every 30 seconds that I keep clicking. How to fix this?! No really, I would desperately like to file a bug but I need guidance on further testing.
