    Enable global menus

Well I've tried Unity and think it's ugly. Hence my shift to Kubuntu. However, I do like the global menus that Unity comes with.
I have found this little gem that disables the global menus in Ubuntu:
    sudo -s
    echo "export UBUNTU_MENUPROXY-"> /etc/X11/
    Xsession.d/81disableglobamenus

But is there a similar thing to enable global menus in Kubuntu?

Do you mean how the titlebar menus attach to the top bar in Gnome?

There's a KDE widget called "Window Menubar" that functions similarly.

        Thanks Oshunluvr,
The Window Menubar widget is sort of what I'm after. Seems to need a bit of tweaking on my side though. I still see the menu bars in the actual windows, and the only menu that's appeared with the Window Menubar widget is File > Close.

Yeah, it's kinda iffy. I used it for awhile, but then it started messing up so I dropped it. Too bad cause it's one of the best things about gnome - the universal menu bar thing.

My problem with it began with the fact that I have multiple desktops with separate activities - it just wasn't compatible with my usage.

            A little cosmetic concern:

Does anyone have those underlined letters in the menu names, "File", Edit, History, and so on?

Any way to get rid of those?

              Run the:
              Code:
              oxygen-settings
              Uncheck the "Draw keyboard accelerators"

Interesting. Launch konsole and look at the Menu bar - no accelerators. Launch Kate and look at the Menu bar - accelerators. Why the discrepancy?

                    Keyboard accelerators

                    http://techbase.kde.org/Projects/Usa..._Accelerators:
Keyboard accelerators are key bindings to access menu items in a consistent way.
                    Alt+Key

They are depending the widget style:

Oxygen: oxygen-settings -> Draw keyboard accelerators
QtCurve: System Settings > Application Appearance > Widget style ; Configure, General: Hide shortcut underline until 'Alt' key is pressed.
                    Etc...

Why some applications don't have them ?

                    > Access key to open the menu (ex: alt+f for file) are missing in
                    konsole.

This cannot be done in konsole.
The ALT+Key is needed by the clients
and can therefor not be consumed.

Here konsole differs from other application.
Note that sequences like ALT+Tab are
already consumed by the window manager
causing them not longer being available in
programs like mc where it is the command
completion. Doing as you ask would for instance
make ALT+O not work any longer in mc also.
