what is a TPU - and why should you care

stumbled on this article , never heard of TPU before ...
i kinda find it interesting ,to say the least
thought i'd come and share it here

Why Does Any of This Matter?
Because AI is no longer a research experiment. It's infrastructure. Every major product you use — search engines, photo apps, navigation, virtual assistants — runs on chips like these. Understanding what powers AI helps you understand where technology is genuinely heading, not just where the hype says it's going.

    EDIT:
oh , and then there is this too ...

its more efficient to run local models on a TPU than trying to shoe horn it into a GPU... they are not cheap tho, and you would need an extra slot and the PSU to run it.

the latest intel chips have one built in, tho i don't think they can compete with a dedicated TPU.

basically think the whole iGPU vs dGPU trend but for AI instead of gaming.
