Latest update broke my install. It boots to login but them goes black. If I shift to terminal mode before attempting graphical log in, I can log in there. A fairly large amount of errors in syslog:
    Code:
2026-03-12T14:03:31.957018-04:00 kubuntu2604 ksplashqml[2325]: qt.qpa.services: Failed to register with host portal QDBusError("org.freedesktop.portal.Error.Failed", "Could not register app ID: App info not found for ''")
Somewhere like 40 or so, each for a different application.

The sddm log is zero bytes.

The exact same install in VM works no problem and has a couple errors in syslog, but not many, and has a normal sddm.log.

Not really sure if it's worth trouble shooting or just wait it out. On 20 Feb. I copied the installation root subvolume from my VM onto bare metal and that original version works fine and still does. It does not have the above errors in syslog.

I have the sound bug too...l. Everything else works surprisingly well. I was interested in the rust based core utilities and the Wayland only session in Plasma. Both seem fine so far. I upgraded from 25.10 to 26.04 because the installer was broken at the time I grabbed a daily build. Not only was the upgrade successful, my NVIDIA drivers did not break in the process! This is really looking amazing and it's not even beta yet.

Caused by Firefox & Youtube. VLC plays fine.
    Code:
systemctl --user restart pipewire pipewire-pulse wireplumber
    ...does restore sound.

People have reported that installing the package libqt6wlshellintegration6 fixes the broken panel issues. If that is the case, we will be looking at why Plasma builds did not automatically generate a depend on that.

No idea, I am not using 26.04. It is too early, and I stopped permanently running the dev version of Kubuntu as my daily OS some time ago. I have only done the Plasma 5-Plasma 6.0 transition., and I have seen zero issues with each step going from there to Plasma 6.6.1 on neon, over the past two years.

At this stage in development, it is not uncommon for parts of the OS to be missing, or just broken temporarily. Packaging bug with missing files, waiting for a package that is failing to build, that sort of thing.

But lurking on Kubuntu's dev matrix, some are seeing odd errors and such; not sure if related here. They appear to be waiting for 6.6.1 to build or maybe some Frameworks stuff before finding the cause/fix.

tl;dr welcome to running an alpha-state OS with a rapid-fire amount of work on both the Ubuntu and Kubuntu sides of things. Go back to your regular OS and keep checking for updates later

Any one know where the formatting for the LOCK SCREEN WENT

Something changed since 24.04 ESR as it works there, but in 26.04 - Looking to change the lock screen time format to proper 24h time format, but
    https://askubuntu.com/questions/7831...24-hour-format
None of these files or paths exist
Find from a root didn't find Clock.qml either.
Any one know where this setting went Thanks!

Today's (1st March 2026) update has broken the desktop, not detecting screen properly (AMD system) and Plasma task bar not appearing on desktop.
