    New sudo-rs

Dropping this here for people looking for something to read today, who haven't seen it.
(Got a notification today on my tablet this morning, first I heard about it.)
Don't know a thing about it except what I read here.

You can install sudo-rs on 24.04 and 25.04. It is there on repository. I just installed it and no problem. At least for now.

Unless you do some esoteric things with sudo, they say that using sudo-rs is seamless; you won't notice anything different. And, sudo will remain an option for a while yet.

... the original sudo will remain available for users who need it
And I read (in an article somewhere) that the command will remain sudo.

So you could choose which package to put on your system, sudo or sudo-rs.

they will have an update-alternatives action to be able to switch between them as necessary.

Well if by "esoteric" you mean using multiple files in /etc/sudoers.d/ combined with many bash aliases, then yeah, that's me. You know - command line guy...

I haven't looked into the release info, but I assume "sudo" will still be the same command to use in bash. It would be onerous to have to start using "sudo-rs" or whatever,
