    Unintended consequence of Phased Updates?

Not sure if it was ever intended, or it's just an unfortunate consequence, but if apt reports packages being held back due to phasing on a release that Ubuntu identifies as eligible to be upgraded: 24.10; then you can't upgrade to the newer release: 25.04. Attempting to do so (sudo do-release-upgrade) reports back with "Please install all available updates for your release before upgrading."

Yeah, not sure I get the reasoning behind phasing updates. On the surface it seems to say "We're not sure if these packages are ready to be released, but here - have a look..." I'd prefer having the option to upgrade or just wait altogether.

Alternately, one should be able to opt out of phasing. I have been around long enough to un-screw whatever updates cause problems. Let the noobs stand behind the fence, LOL

One can opt out of phasing, but not via GUI.

Phasing is intended to catch a potential bad bug in some core bit from spreading to *everyone*. But these grub ones seem to have been held for longer than I recall any previous phasing.

If updating via the GUi in Kubuntu or Ubuntu, one would never notice, except maybe in this case where an upgrade is known to be available. I am assuming that the notification appears here?

Manually installing the phased packages is an option, but I am not sure what the consequences of doing this has down the road-- packages installed this way are marked as 'manual' which would affect something, I'd think.
