I like a minimalist desktop too, but I was envious of Vinny's Conky display. I was checking for a plasma widget that showed something similar and discovered "Simple Monitor", which you can see in the upper left corner of my screen. I wish it had GPU temps but nothing is perfect.

Yepp that's what I have as well. I even posted here about it and don G+. It's pretty nice considering it's not a conky.

I like that one ,,,,,,,,but will keep my conky for now ,,,,,,I spent a lot of time tweaking it .
I removed that "Simple Monitor" because besides looking pretty it didn't tell me what I already knew, or cared to know. I already had date and time on the right side of the system tray. I didn't care about CPU activity and I knew that I had 6Gb of RAM. It didn't have GPU temps. So, I added CPU T0 to my GPU temp and deleted the Simple Monitor. So, I really am minimalist now.
