access to settings has changed after recent update

usually i'm able to access settings via krunner by typing "settings", but now the are two search results on my install

there is:

System Settings - which is the usual giant settings page with things like "driver manager"

but now there is:

Settings - which brings up some over simplified version of the plasma settings where nothing even shows in the main panel it just tells you to pick something from the list on the left.

anyone else getting this?

also, possibly related:

when i go to "driver manager" in settings and try to open the software manager, nothing happens after i enter my password

i have to instead, go to the terminal and use sudo software-properties-qt


to access the dialog

this is what i get from apt list


plasma-settings/noble,now 23.01.0-1build3 amd64 [installed]

i note that it is not marked as automatic, which would imply that i installed it... but i don't think i did.



should i just uninstall it then?


ah, its a dependent of plasma-mobile, which i have no need for, and is not installed ... don't know how that made it onto my machine

i've uninstalled the package... just weird

now i only have the system settings in my search results again.
