However, I just tried your 'old school way', and while CUPS did indicate that the setting change was okay, relaunching Gwenview and looking at Printer Properties, the Page size didn't change; still shows A4. I even rebooted 'just in case', and still no change in Gwenview.
Running kcmshell5 kcd_printer_manager and then clicking on Configure > Printer Options the change I made through CUPS is showing; Page Size is US Letter. What version of Kubuntu (if Kubuntu) are you running that this works on?
