    Next cloud install

hi all im wanting to install next cloud on my server, i know i need to install Apache and a database software, then install next cloud.

it does seem a bit confusing mainly due to the fact i have only ever run a web server once using windows xp and ISS about 10 years ago

any help you can give me would be really appreciated

          Change 7.0 to 7.1.

The tip on the page you were linked to doesn't say it clearly but it means install the version of the program available in the repository.

Actually, the pages does say to change 7.0 to 7.1 or 7.2:
TIP:Tip!If you want to install PHP 7.1 or PHP 7.2, just replace each instance of the following command with 7.1 or 7.2.
Example: Let’s suppose you want to install PHP 7.2, the package php7.0-gd will become php7.2-gd

The example still showed 7.0 so I guess the page author neglected to update that line when updating the how-to.

We mean the system one. Type in:
                    Code:
                    apt search libapache2-mod-php
and if your system is like my 17.10 install, you'll get
                    Code:
                    libapache2-mod-php7.1/artful-updates 7.1.11-0ubuntu0.17.10.1 amd64
                     server-side, HTML-embedded scripting language (Apache 2 module)
in your results. Which is why I said to change 7.0 to 7.1 in your commands.

Which port to use would depend on how you set up Apache. The normal ports are http on 80 and https on 443. I re-direct all my port 80 traffic to 443 to force secure connections, but I set apache up years ago using some how-to. I'm no expert in that.

I've never tried webdav to access nextcloud as I've never had a need.

They're aren't a lot of nextcloud users on here. You might go to their forum and look for help there.
