This may help...

Personally - if you decide to dig further in, I think you'll want to configure your video correctly using the xorg.conf file and optimize your video performance. Everything will work better for you then.

Thanks for the Wine link, will give it a try...

Was thinking about configuring the video correctly using the xorg.conf, but dropped down the rabbit hole of "dated" solutions.

      I have Ubuntu 10.04.1 LTS, lucid - 2.6.32-24-generic #42-Ubuntu SMP Fri Aug 20 14:21:58 UTC 2010 x86_64 GNU/Linux.

I found the ATI references from this issue timdanub had with his laptop http://kubuntuforums.net/forums/index.php?topic=3113741.0"]Drivers for ATI Mobility Radeon X2500 (X1600)?.

It appears that ATI requires proprietary drivers, do not remember if I went down this path but found this site http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/ati-catalyst/Pages/catalyst.aspx"]ATI Catalyst™ Technology or if it would apply to my situation with the Ubuntu that I have installed. http://wiki.cchtml.com/index.php/9.4"]ATI - Catalyst 9.4 - products moved to legacy software support structure ?

What would be the "foot print" of having installed the ATI drivers, to confirm that I did not go down this path ?

Would there be issues with applying these drivers to Ubuntu lucid ? I found references to the ATI drivers for jaunty and earlier versions.

Would this be a solution to the graphics problems I have been having + Microsoft Games ?

      Thanks for the help....
