    halabaloo

I have been checking my memory usage lately. At some point I noticed after using Firefox, obviously there's a memory jump, but after quitting Firefox, memory didn't seem to recover. Using neon, it does.

Further checking memory usage, I found
    Code:
    baloo_file
to be at the top of the list:
    Code:
    1227 268767064 baloo_file
    3419 34309896 WebExtensions
    1222 3300736 kwin_x11
    3320 3074916 firefox
    3828 2693620 Web Content
    3373 2681604 Web Content
    3641 2663880 Web Content
    4296 2645104 Web Content
    4334 2532704 Web Content
    1229 2205404 plasmashell
    1154 1444012 kded5
    1282 1336820 pulseaudio
    3890 1298636 dolphin
    balooctrl disable, Fixed it.

Then I found this comment on KDE Community:
Baloo is the file indexing and file search framework for KDE Plasma, with a focus on providing a very small memory footprint along with with extremely fast searching.
Not sure what their idea of a small footprint is, but its running(or was) at the top of the memory list.

    Any ideas comments?

Usually, baloo runs like that until it's done indexing then it should settle down:

    Code:
    stuart@office:~$ ps -o pid,user,%mem,command ax | sort -b -k3 -r |grep baloo
    21149 stuart 0.1 /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libexec/baloorunner
    23657 stuart 0.1 /usr/bin/baloo_file
     2705 stuart 0.0 grep --color=auto baloo

Thanks. I'll wait on it then, and see what develops.

Nothing wrong with turning it off. If you don't need a file index, then why have it?
