    Should I be concerned

    Running sudo update-apt-xapian-index results in:

    I see that. Have to check which version of apt-xapian-index I'm using.
    This bug was fixed in the package apt-xapian-index - 0.47ubuntu8---------------
    apt-xapian-index (0.47ubuntu8) xenial; urgency=medium
    * debian/patches/05_python3.patch: del the indexer instance explicitly
    before sys.exit(), so that it gets decrefed and freed before Python's
    implicit shutdown machinery can potentially leave an empty os module for
    ServerProgress.__del__() to find. (LP: #1530518)

    KDE Neon is based on Xenial, therefore is using previous version of the package.

    The version currently in Yakkety is 0.47ubuntu9 ( https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source...ex/0.47ubuntu9 ) which included a patch to get the Kubuntu Driver Manager working again. However, this has broken it altogether on my system. I will have to refer this back to Carlo, as he knows more about it.

    Nice to know. Thank you.

    In 16.10, running as a VM on my Mac, Driver Manager failed to display anything, and knowing about running update-apt-xapian-index 'fixing' that issue, I ran it and saw that error. Running Kubuntu in a VM doesn't require special drivers, so I don't need either to work. But I don't like apps and/or utilities that are installed not to work properly.

    Added:

    Re-launched and ran sudo update-apt-xapian-index and it completed properly without any errors.

    So it appears that the comment by Barry Warsaw (barry) -- comment #2 -- https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+s...x/+bug/1530518 -- is valid.
    Almost positive what's happening is that Python shutdown process is interacting badly with ServerProgress's __del__().
