...Currently, it can be used to view images in png and jpg formats, listen to audio and video files supported by Phonon, and view text files. Support for reading PDF files is just around the corner. Starting KLook is pretty simple. Just select the files you want to view or play and press the Space bar on the keyboard...

    README:
Klook is a quick preview feature based on Qt and Qt Quick, allows users to look
at the contents of a file in the Dolphin

To build KLook you must have following programs and packages installed:
    1) CMake
    2) kde4libs-devel
    3) Qt 4

    To install it just do:
    1) mkdir build
    2) cd build
    3) cmake .. && make && make install

If you want to use KLook from Dolphin you also have to apply Dolphin patches
that make Klook show up on pressing space.
You can download patch for Dolphin here:
    https://abf.rosalinux.ru/projects/64...in-klook.patch

You can also use it with StackFolder plasma applet, that can be downloaded here.
StackFolder does has support for KLook built-in so you just have to install the package
    from https://abf.rosalinux.ru/projects/50034

    Post Build

    1) As default the KLook is looking the bits and pieces from the wrong places:

/klook-git9b1a3d41/build/../src/video.h:27:34: fatal error: KDE/Phonon/VideoPlayer: No such file or directory
    With the Ubuntu: /usr/include/phonon/Phonon/VideoPlayer

    2) The KLook is installing to the /usr/local/share/klook/main.qml
    but it is looking:
    file:///usr/share/klook/main.qml: File not found
Cmake with the install prefix will help:
    Code:
    cmake .. -DCMAKE_INSTALL_PREFIX=/usr

If those are fixed the KLook seems to work:

Personally I would like to see something similar to this implemented...

For those not familiar with the old gloobus and coverflow, gloobus allows for quick previewing of files, not unlike our folder tooltips in Dolphin. A press of the spacebar however opens the file in a 'preview window' and then coverflow kicks in allowing the user to scroll previous/next files images etc within that preview window.

Maybe with the KDE 4.9 there will be the KDE HUD: http://www.omgubuntu.co.uk/2012/02/a...r-the-kde-hud/

    Post KLook - KDE 4.11 ?

The StackFolder ( folderview widget with the KLook support) has requested to get into the KDE SC 4.10 /1/. It seems that the request was made a bit too late. With the KLook the status is (with the Dolphin) in the 4.10 feature plan /2/ "TODO" (postponed to the 4.11 ?).

The Kubuntu package plan has the Klook for the Kubuntu 13.04 /3/. With the Kubuntu 12.10 /4/ the packaging was postponed.
