    Lost in process

Im reaching for the first: im confused on how to update my computer since i haven’t done it in a sec and ive tried a couple things and idk how to upload a photo

the discover app is the easiest way to keep your system up to date.

just open the app to check for updates and apply them.

you can go to discover and click on updates and see if any available
or go to a terminal and type (or copy/paste better)
      Code:
sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
to upload a photo , look just beneath the textbox you are typing in ,it;ll say upload attachments ,click it , it takes you to your file manager , choose the photo , once it uploaded click on the insert , you can choose small medium large whatever

and welcome to the forum !

Don’t use capitals. SUDO APT UPRGADE <—- wrong

          sudo apt upgrade <—- correct

i cant see the image , it's just a block with nothing in it
but from Snowhog response i gather , it's why i said copy/paste better

also what do you mean by adding discovery later ? Discovery is already installed
or do you mean you'll try Discovery later ?
We might have a language barrier here lol

We don't permit uploads in posts for new members who haven't made a minimum number of posts. He must have linked the image from his computer, and as he isn't logged in at the moment, the image isn't available.

myf and i do speak english i just suck at this computer stuff, but i typed the (sudo apt upgrade/update) and i was only given [ waiting for cache lock: could not get loc /var/lib/dpkg/lock-fronted. it is held by process 9065 ] for now i closed the terminal since it hasn't gotten anywhere. another side note to add does discover by any chance take a sec to load?? i have a decently old computer and haven't figured out how to customize my system yet?

If apt is already running in the background, then another instance isn't permitted. Yeah, you just wait a bit and try again. Normal.

Providing us with the specs would be helpful. Basic info like it's age, make/model, amount of RAM it has, size of the hard drive Kubuntu is installed on, video card/GPU make (Intel, Nvidia, AMD).

Yes. Discover itself checks for package updates 'in the background.' If that is happening, then apt is being used, and you can't launch another instance of it until the one being run has finished. That doesn't normally take very long, so waiting a minute or so is generally enough. You'll know, because when you run the command, it won't complain.

It looks like the update was interrupted before it could finish configuring some packages.

Open Konsole (your terminal) and enter this command:
                            Code:
                            sudo dpkg --configure -a
(please copy the command and paste it in terminal , every little detail in a command matters)

Press Enter, type your password when asked, and press Enter again. You won't see the password as you type — that's normal.

Let the command finish. It may take a little while, and if it asks you any questions you're unsure about, stop and ask before choosing an answer.

Once it's finished, try updating your system again through Discover.Note discover can be slower depending your system specs , do not rush things.

If you get another error, post the complete error message here so we can help you further.
