the discover app is the easiest way to keep your system up to date.
just open the app to check for updates and apply them.

you can go to discover and click on updates and see if any available
or go to a terminal and type (or copy/paste better)to upload a photo , look just beneath the textbox you are typing in ,it;ll say upload attachments ,click it , it takes you to your file manager , choose the photo , once it uploaded click on the insert , you can choose small medium large whateverCode:sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade
and welcome to the forum !

i cant see the image , it's just a block with nothing in it
but from Snowhog response i gather , it's why i said copy/paste better
also what do you mean by adding discovery later ? Discovery is already installed
or do you mean you'll try Discovery later ?
We might have a language barrier here lolLast edited by die.boer; Today, 12:47 PM.▁ ▂ ▄ ▅ ▆ ▇ █ ᄂIПЦX FӨЯ ᄂIFΣ █ ▇ ▆ ▅ ▄ ▂ ▁

We don't permit uploads in posts for new members who haven't made a minimum number of posts. He must have linked the image from his computer, and as he isn't logged in at the moment, the image isn't available.Originally posted by die.boer View Posti cant see the image , it's just a block with nothing in itSlava Ukraini! 🇺🇦

another side note to add does discover by any chance take a sec to load?? i have a decently old computer and haven't figured out how to customize my system yet?

If apt is already running in the background, then another instance isn't permitted. Yeah, you just wait a bit and try again. Normal.Originally posted by Pancake-chan View Postwaiting for cache lock: could not get loc /var/lib/dpkg/lock-fronted. it is held by process 9065Slava Ukraini! 🇺🇦

Providing us with the specs would be helpful. Basic info like it's age, make/model, amount of RAM it has, size of the hard drive Kubuntu is installed on, video card/GPU make (Intel, Nvidia, AMD).Originally posted by Pancake-chan View Posti have a decently old computerSlava Ukraini! 🇺🇦

Yes. Discover itself checks for package updates 'in the background.' If that is happening, then apt is being used, and you can't launch another instance of it until the one being run has finished. That doesn't normally take very long, so waiting a minute or so is generally enough. You'll know, because when you run the command, it won't complain.Originally posted by Pancake-chan View Postbut wdym by wait a bit
is it normal for this to happen??

It looks like the update was interrupted before it could finish configuring some packages.Originally posted by Pancake-chan View Postalright so when my computer starts open discovery or press it and it should just do the work??
so it was updating after i used discover but it says it runs into a issue and its ( cannot obtain lock: E: DPKG WAS INTERRUPTED, YOU MUST MANUALLY RUN 'DPKG --CONFIGURE -A' TO CORRECT THE PROBLEM" but the thing is idk what that means??
Open Konsole (your terminal) and enter this command:
(please copy the command and paste it in terminal , every little detail in a command matters)Code:sudo dpkg --configure -a
Press Enter, type your password when asked, and press Enter again. You won't see the password as you type — that's normal.
Let the command finish. It may take a little while, and if it asks you any questions you're unsure about, stop and ask before choosing an answer.
Once it's finished, try updating your system again through Discover.Note discover can be slower depending your system specs , do not rush things.
If you get another error, post the complete error message here so we can help you further.
