AMD A8-7680 APU wont play nice so im stuck in safe graphics mode

Ok so its a fresh install of 26 04 lts had to do it in safe graphics mode. All installed no issue. Reboot got past the logo and black screen nothing no f keys or anything i could think of would work. Had to hard reset and Held shift key and modified the boot to nomodeset this got me to the log in and I changed the nano grub settings to the same. I can boot in now but the resolution is 800/600 and nothing fits on the screen LOL Help. Contrary to above I have no idea what im doing what little i know is from weeks of google and note taking LOL please explain a simply as you can as this may as well be in klingon for all i can understand.

Nope did on mint but not here. You get a load off coloured dots across the bottom off screen and it freezes.

Update. Tried a install of w10 on a spare ssd. Obviously it's not a solution but it did prove the hardware ok as everything works no issues at native resolution.

there is an issue with the new 7.0.0-28 kernel and AMD gpus... still unresolved as of -29, but i hear -27 works if you can get it.... my 24.04 repositories do not have the -27 so i would have to fall back to 6.17.0-40

lucky for me the rx6800 gpu i'm running is not having any issues.

Update. This was so easy on mint goto the update window select the kernel you want to load install it and switch so far i been trough 12 repository looking for a way to do it and useful (YER RIGHT) tools to assist. Thank the powers that be for clonezilla

Im getting no where fast. This dam PC will not run with the apu at anything other 800/600 which is unusable as haft the dam buttons are always just off screen.

I may have to go back to mint that presents 100 different problem but least i could see em in the correct resolution.(CRAZY LAUGH)

ok... let's see exactly what graphics hardware Linux sees
Boot into your working 800×600 desktop and open Konsole.
run these 3 commands (in order) and paste the outputs

inxi -Gxx

lspci -nnk | grep -A3 -E 'VGA|3D|Display'

cat /proc/cmdline

we want to see whether the system is seeing the A8-7680's Radeon graphics as something like Radeon R7 / Kaveri, and whether the kernel is actually loading the radeon or amdgpu driver.

die.boer ty for the above but a update first. I got the silly machine after a day of fighting to download and use kernel 6.8 and swap command to amdgpu.dc=0

it all works. So now i need to see if I can convince it to stay on 6.8 and not upgrade and brick it again. How do i make it say on 6.8?
