    Terminal keeps asking for passwords

    Hi all,

I am new to Linux and have recently installed Kubuntu 25.10.
During installation I left the login password blank, and checked the box not to ask for passwords during login.
When I try to install using the terminal I keep getting this:
    [sudo: authenticate] Password:
    sudo: Authentication failed, try again.

After reading about this issue I rebooted into recovery mode and used passwd, and passwd root to create new passwords.
But still the terminal is giving me error messages that my password is not correct.

I need to use terminal to install several programs such as proton VPN etc.

Please help before I pull all my hair out.

    Thanks a lot,

    Goshawk

I have just been able to fix this annoying thing.
To fix this, go to System Setting / Users and create or change your password.

From what I have seen, many newbies seem to have the same problem, hope it helps.

sudo requires a password, as you have discovered.
