    Need UFW help

I am new to all linux distros. I have been having a great experience so far but I cannot figure out an issue I am having with UFW. When I try and make a rule, under applications there is only "CUPS". I do not have any applications called CUPS and all my other apps are not listed. Even in the konsole when I list out the apps there is only CUPS; sudo ufw app list

    Any suggestions?

    Welcome to KFN.

What version of Kubuntu are you running?

CUPS - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CUPS It is part of every Linux OS installation.

How are you using ufw? From the command line, or are you using the graphical interface, gufw?

Only seeing CUPS is normal until you add more rules to UFW. The command "sudo ufw app list" list the apps that have specific rules, not all apps on your system.

For example I have added a rule to allow SSH connections using "OpenSSH". So when I enter "sudo ufw app list", I see:
          Code:
          Available applications:
          CUPS
          OpenSSH
          On my server I get:
          Code:
          Available applications:
          Apache
          Apache Full
          Apache Secure
          Samba
          iperf3
          plexmediaserver
          plexmediaserver-all
          plexmediaserver-dlna

I am trying to change it in the settings with the graphical interface, I only checked the terminal when I was having issues.

This video tutorial may be helpful for you: How to Install and Use GUFW Firewall on Ubuntu | Linux Mint

It is done for Linux Mint, but that won't matter. It will be the same for Kubuntu.

A bit different from what's in the video, but when they click the dropdown menu there are available applications, unlike mine, here is a screenshot https://imgur.com/a/ogoMdID

You are using the default Firewall application. If you haven't installed gufw, do so, then launch Firewall Configuration. Then you can follow the video.

Got it, OK I installed the GUFW but I am still having issues, the video was simple to follow but either I am missing something or misunderstanding this completely. In the new GUFW I installed and opened I found the rules and application list but its full of stuff I dont have installed and missing stuff I do have installed, so I'm kind of in the same boat. So essentially I want to block all outgoing traffic except for SSH and Brave Browser, my thought process was I dont want any other apps connecting to the web and sending any unnecessary data.

I appreciate the help but I think im going to put this on the back burner for now.
