    Help configuring pulse audio

I just switched from Mint to Kubuntu and I'm trying to solve a problem I had using wireplumber. If I play media, it takes about two seconds for any audio to play. In Mint, I had to change a config file to stop the audio device from being put to sleep to overcome the issue.

Now that I'm here, I'd like to do the same thing (I've confirmed the same issue exists), but I'm not sure how to go about it. I tried /etc/pulse/client.conf, but I don't see anything relevant in it.

I'm hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

    Welcome to KFN.

If you perform a Google search on configure wireplumber to prevent audio device going to sleep you'll find a lot of information, including the AI 'answer'. If you review some of these, given you changed a config file previously in Mint, what you read may jog your memory.

I'm a little confused. The impression I have is that wireplumber and pulse audio are two different things. Is that not correct?

I know how to fix the issue with wireplumber, but now that I'm using Kubuntu, it seems I have to find out how to do it with pulse audio.

I found some articles, one of which talks about editing /etc/pulse/default.pa, but I don't have that file. The only thing in that directory is client.conf, which doesn't seem to contain anything referencing device suspension.

My bad! Sorry, I didn't read your post clearly enough.

So you are saying that the issue you had with your audio device being put to sleep when you were using wireplumber, is also an issue now that you are using pulseaudio. Is that correct?

So to be clear (in my mind ), when you start playing audio, there is still a delay before you begin hearing anything?

Yep, that's right. The same issue that happened in Mint is happening in Kubuntu, but the same procedure won't work because the files I normally edit don't exist (/usr/share/wireplumber/main.lua.d/50-alsa-config.lua). I'm assuming there's a similar procedure for Kubuntu, but I can't seem to find the right config files.

Have you reviewed the man page for pulse-daemon.conf - PulseAudio daemon configuration file

I have the same issue and didn't know where to start looking. I took a hint from the OP and located this:

              Hopefully, this may help:
