lets get some more information ,,,,,,,

1-the external drive was purchased with NTFS file system on it (yes/no) ,,,,if no how did you format it and was it with Kubuntu or with windows .

2-you said ,,,,"thought I extended all its authorizations.",,,,,, exactly how did you go about doing that.

3-if you plug the drive in wile your up and running ,,,dose the device notifier pop up asking if you want to open in file manager ,,,,,,,,if yes ,,,,then can you do anything with it .

4- you say your trying to copy your 14.04 /home/you ,,,,,,,what version are you running now .

answer these questions and then open a konsole and with the drive plugged in copy/paste each of these into the konsole and hit enter then copy and paste the output hear in code tags.

    Code:
    sudo parted -l
    and

    Code:
    findmnt
    lets start their .

the problem is probably,,,,,,,,,the permissions thing ,,,although I thought mounting in Dolphin or thrugh the device notifyer would give you these ,,,,,,,,we ,,,,,probably ,,,,,need to create a folder/directory that you own on the drive .

O and please enplane how you got into the drive (got it mounted) far enough to even try to copy/paste or drag the folder in .

Thank you very much vinnywright for your answer :-)

      1. the hdd was either bought already formatted in ntfs, or my father formatted it in ntfs with an apple, or I formatted it with windows or apple.

      2. I gave all the authorizations to see and change the data in the three cases. You can see a picture http://imagik.fr/image/Z7l

      3. Yes a pop up window always asks me if I want to see the hdd through delphine.

      4. I have

      Thank you again vinnywright.

        Thank you again vinnywright.

cool ,,,so you got what you needed copied over then ?

the only thing I can think of ,,,,off the top of my head real quick ,,is that their must have been some file or folder in your /home/you that was owned by root and not viewable to any one else,,,,,,which should not have been.

I don't understand this thread, but here's two points that may be relevant:

Dolphin usually automatically "user mounts" filesystems on removable media if you click on them. They get unmounted when you log out, or do the "safely remove" thing, which often has an "eject" icon. If you plug in one while logged in the notifier should invite you to "open in file manager" which does this.
            • Copying folders to an NTFS volume does copy the data fine, but not the permissions, unless a mapping is set up between the linux and Windows user ids. For a home directory this won't matter much, unless it does; f. ex. if you've set up ssh logins to other systems the permissions have to be just right. A way to avoid this trouble is to use an archive tool like ark.

Thank you vinnywright and jlittle for your attention. It's late I*will read them again tomorrow.
Yes I could copy what I wanted to copy :-)
Before I*wrote here my problem, I've been searching in the net and actually I only found people who could only copy little data in several times and not a big data in one move. I didn't thought that I'm concerned but that is indeed my case.
