[Panel] Is transparency possible for the KDE Plasma 5.8.7 panel?

I'm using Kubuntu 16.04 with http://ppa.launchpad.net/kubuntu-ppa/backports/ubuntu to get me Plasma 5.8.7.

I haven't installed any external themes of any sort and so I'm using the default Breeze Dark theme. Is it possible to make the Plasma panel transparent?

Yes. Select a theme with a transparent panel. There is/was a tool called "plasmathemeexplorer" but I don't know if it's up-to-date. Also, in Desktop effects, try turning off Blur and Background Contrast. Sometimes this causes the panel to be more solid looking.

Thanks. I turned off Blur and Background Contrast. I'm otherwise quite content with the default themes so I'll leave things as they are. I thought maybe there was some setting I overlooked.

But there's this: https://github.com/psifidotos/plasma-transparent-panel which I found over at https://forum.antergos.com/topic/683...asma-5-panel/5

      Looks promising

Yes, you need a theme with panel-background svg with suitable transparency to get a transparent panel background. That script would modify an existing theme's svg to produce that.

I use this panel theme Glassified, but I'm on 14.04, not sure if you can install in Plasma 5. https://store.kde.org/p/998878/
The photo at that link shows a dark systray, it's not, it's clear like the panel. I have used this theme for about 5+ years now in 12.04 and now 14.04, it's excellent.
I also use this for window decorations, WhiteGlass https://store.kde.org/p/1002694/ and they go well together. This one is different than the one of the same name, WhiteGlass Plasma Theme.

Download the application "bare naked"; type the name in search and it will appear. It is transparent in the panel and application menu. Shab
