Looks like you have added the mirror for debian.
What if you run the

sudo apt-get install -f

Will this correct your errors?

The mirror universe is in the apt-mirror package.

Code:

sudo apt-get install apt-mirror

The file mozilla-plugin-vlc is not there anymore.

If it's VLC you want to install and run, surely you can simply download it from the standard repository in ubuntu without having to add extra repositories from Debian or the PPA's?

This is why I use Help-the-New-Guy: Am 80 years young so I need all the help I can get!!!
I was following the instructions from:

What is the procedure to uninstall what I have now, & install the standard Ubuntu repository?

Just some general advice:

If you're looking for a program, try the software installer first.
If you're on a web page that offers a program you want or need that's not in the installer, use the instructions for Ubuntu when offered, not Debian. Kubuntu is based on Ubuntu, not Debian.

To install vlc from ubuntu repository within the terminal

Code:

sudo apt-get install vlc

Or run Muon search for vlc then select it then install.

Debian may supply some packages and technology, but Kubuntu is not "based" on Debian. I realize we're arguing semantics of the use of the word "based", but from a new user standpoint it is important to know that given a choice of an Ubuntu package vs. a Debian package or installation method, one should always select the Ubuntu package/installation method over Debian.

You could also correctly state that Kubuntu is based on Linux but that's not very helpful when faced with a half-a-dozen installation choices. I doubt you would advise a new user to compile a package themselves when a pre-compiled Ubuntu package was readily available. That was and is the point I am making. The set of packages on which Kubuntu is based come directly from Ubuntu, not Debian, therefore the most correct selection is the Ubuntu package/method over a Debian offering.

remove/comment out the 2 debian sources you added from your source list ,,,,,,,remove/purge any VLC stuff you have installed ,,,,,,,, now make sure you ave the universe repo enabled then just

Correct.

While we're at it, here's how the distros describe themselves:

Ubuntu is a derivative of Debian
Kubuntu is a recognized flavor of Ubuntu
