    Kubuntu 12.10 install problem

Having to reinstall Kubuntu 12.10 from CD to currently install (same) that has gone haywire!- After "Preparing to Install" it hangs - does nothing. Any suggestions??

Sounds like a partitioner problem. First, verify your disc burn was good. If so, I've heard sometimes turning swap off before running install can help.

      Thanks for reply!
Disc is fine - installed it previously. The Startup Menu is the problem - waited 20 mins & no action. Something is amiss here. Is there something I should have set initially via the F key menu's?

That sounds like a known problem, at least in 12.04.1, when installing to a disc that's already partitioned. Ubiquity hangs. It is possible to tiptoe around the problem (I managed it) but I don't remember the details. All I remember is don't go near the swap partition, just ignore it completely. Alternatively, erase all partitions and start from scratch.
