    2nd Hardrive

I think I may have gone about this in the wrong way...

I had installed Kubuntu 11.04 amd 64 on the original harddrive on my laptop. I then decided to get an new larger hardrive and installed Kubuntu 11.04 amd 64 onto it instead. Since the original hardrive is still good I decided to put it into the empty bay of my laptop, to use for extra storage and backup. The second drive is mounted within my new Kubuntu installation. My problem is that I don't know how to get ride of the first installation of Kubutu on that extra drive. I will be happy to completely reformat it onto one partition. Is there some way to do that?

That's actually the easiest way to clean a drive.

You can use a GUI tool like partition manager or gparted, or fdisk from the command line.

Simply unmount (if mounted) any partitions on that drive, delete the current partition table, and create whatever you want on it.

Perfect! Thanks, the part in the process I was missing was unmounting the partition. Once I did that the rest was very straight forward.
