Sorry on such a late response since my pcs internet doesn't work access to both my pc and the web simultaneously has been hard to get, etc/hosts displays the following---
127.0.0.1<Tab>localhost
127.0.1.1<Tab>IanD

fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes

Your /etc/hosts file only contains the localhost IP (127.0.0.1). There is no entry for the (assigned) IP to your router that a networkmanager is supposed to have added.Windows no longer obstruct my view.

2) with a router
3) with a cable-modem
4) I don't know
