    My fault!

    I saw "adaptor" but thought "router" and led the rest of the group astray. I don't have any recommendations for adaptors except to Google http://lmgtfy.com/?q=linux+wireless+adapter

      nobody knows of a brand and or model that works great on their system and preferreably easy to install?
      AMDx2 64  3.1ghz - 2gb ram @800mhz - nvidia geforce 512gb - Kubuntu 10.04 64bit

        For auto-mounting of your USB HD, have you looked at K Menu > System Settings > Advanced > Removable Devices and checked Enable automatic mounting of removable media yet?
