Is it possible to change the shutdown screen?

Just installed Lucid Lynx recently, and I am trying to customize as much of the visual stuff as I can. Since there is an option to change the splash screen for login, is there an equivalent for the shutdown phase?

Any sort of information on this is greatly appreciated.

do you mean the plymouth screen? Thats the blue screen, kubuntu in the middle with the dots... or do you mean the moon logo on the log out timer?

      The plymouth screen.

Another question: Is it possible to change the blue Kubuntu screen that pops up after Grub boots? It is a little too plain for my liking.

That's the plymouth screen - the developers used it because it speeds up the boot time.

You can drop it altogether and go to text boot or change it but I've not done any research into it.
