    I'm not sure he has the option of NOT installing wvdial. I've got it, and I certainly would have declined it if given a choice (and yes, I used the alternate installer this time). I suggest trying to disable the modem in the BIOS.

      hi, i just had the same problem with my asus notebook.
      deactivating my modem in bios worked fine for me. the installation is complete.
      now i only have that damn problem with my ati gfx .. but there are lots of posts about this....

      i dunno what will happen if i reactivate my modem on the running system just give it a try..

      +internal modem/ soundcard/ tv card/ networkadapter/cardreader etc....
