SOLVED Strange file - how to get rid of it?

In emai,l I got a notice from Social Security (I have an account on-line) that my SS statement is ready,
clicked to download it, I could see something weird going on, 50 MB, an .exe file:
    Social-Security_Statement_PsXtBrSILrjFkj3.exe, large, like 50+MB
It is not appearing in my Downloads folder.
The K window "Open with" portal popped up, asking how to open the file.

    (1) How do I locate this file to delete it?
    (2) How do I get rid of that Kubuntu "Open with" portal window? (it won't close)

I tried a few things, but am not seeing where that file got downloaded to.
    Obviously, I think it's a virus/malware.

    (This is in 22.04, btw)

Found it. Searched Dolphin for *.exe. Sent it to Trash, emptied Trash.
But I can't get rid of that window mentioned in (2). No "close" option.
I suppose I can restart or log out & in.

Edit: OK, that worked: "I suppose I can restart or log out & in."

    Sorry for the commotion.

How in the world do you mark a thread "Solved"?? I've done this many times.

I forgot, but this forum isn't subject to the Thread Prefixes we have established, so [SOLVED] et al aren't available. Editing the Thread Title (as you did) and prefacing the Title with SOLVED is fine.

When I see strange looking files that Dolphin doesn't handle well I use 'mc' to remove them.

                email was from emailsupport@newo.com
newo.com is a vehicle sales website, based in Costa Rica, I think.

I've gone from "trust but verify" mode to "the internet is full of sleazebags" mode. If I see an email from a site that I don't recognize, regardless of Subject, it gets the full-flush treatment

For Social Security, I'm right there with ya, I just dial my own way directly to the site. Sometimes it seems like SS is Fort Knox reimagined, but I'd rather go thru the extra verifications to get to MY data!
