Which archive formats are least susceptible to corruption?

Over the years I've lost a number of .zip archives to corruption. I have lost both compressed and uncompressed archives.

I'd like to build some password protected, uncompressed archives.

Which archive formats are the most stable?

Technically, they all are. I'd think that the issue is that over time, an archived file (of any ilk) that isn't accessed/refreshed periodically, is subject, like all other 'on disc' data, to bit rot.
