[SOLVED] Help needed for sending files between two computers on a network.

I have two computers I want to send files between, Computer 1 has Kubuntu, Computer 2 has Xubuntu. I want to set up a folder on Computer 1, where I can drag files to go between the two into.

I've set home network IP's to static. I've allowed Computer 2's IP to access computer 1 in UFW. I've set the relevant folder to share on C1 and installed openssh-server. I can now see the folder from C2 but when I click to enter it, it asks me for a login and password. I have no idea how to set these. I've also tried creating a key using ssh-keygen. It says it creates two keys in /home/user/.ssh but they never appear. Then I try and create it again and it gives me an overwrite prompt.

I've tried using info from these guides

    https://help.ubuntu.com/community/SSH/OpenSSH/Keys

    https://help.ubuntu.com/lts/servergu...sh-server.html

    https://www.maketecheasier.com/setti...th-linux-mint/

I can't work it out though

you can do this very easily with Dolphin .

gust go to network in the places panel (press F9 if you do not see it) click the "add network folder" and to execute it when the popup asks , then tick the "secure shell(ssh)" button in the next window ,,,,,,enter the IP info (server)and user name (user) name to give the folder icon it will create (name) and working directory where you want it to start at (folder)

click save and connect ,,,,it will ask for your password (the one for the computer you are trying to connect to) and you will be in .

do you not get a window asking for the user name and password,,,,,,,,it will be the one for the box you are trying to connect to.

Thanks, I had a go at this again today and got it working. I thought for some reason that you'd have to create some special login for networking rather than just using the general login credentials.

I wanted to be able to back up Computer 2 onto the external drive attached to Computer 1 without unplugging it and physically taking it across the house. Which it's now happily doing
