google calender api gcalcli

Can anyone help with getting this to work?
Have got as far as installing it and getting a response from

:~$ gcalcli --help

but all other commands produce no result and no error message
Any help would be appreciated

Further reading indicates that Google doesn't support gcalcli for Linux any more

I was big into Google for 10 years. The whole ball of wax. GDrive, Gtalk, gmail, G+ and various other apps and services. Then, Google decided that I shouldn't be allowed to write my opinions on their websites, or see opinions that its CEO disagreed with. So, last summer I deleted my Google account and began using alternative resources. Life goes on and I wasn't inconvenienced by the changes in the least. They probably didn't miss me, either.
