[PRINTER] Understanding Printing using Cups

According to cups the path to the printer is:

usb://EPSON/Stylus%20SX100?serial=KQEZ387420&interface=1

But there in no such folder on the hard-drive.

My questions is: What is the path/mechanism from the application to the printer?
