Online [server] storage - recommendations required

I have transferred a lot of videos from my DVD collection to a hard disk on my desktop PC. When funds become available I am planning on buying an external hard disk to store the videos on but in the meantime I am thinking of backing up the videos to some online storage service.

I have looked on this web site -> http://www.top10cloudstorage.com/ for comparisons on different online services and their number one service is one called justcloud.com, according to the web site there does not seem to be any negative points about tihs service.

I am just asking you people if you have any experience of this justcloud.com service or if you can recommend any other storage service.

Have you considered getting a VPS and installing ownCloud on it? That's a lot more fun, and you could do a lot more with it

+1 for trying out OwnCloud. That's on my list.

Is Box.com still going? Surprised to see that not even on the list.
I just use DropBox ... for small-scale storage. not gigabytes.

How independent do you think this site is?
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

I don't know anything about cloud stuff but adding another thought.

Justcloud may or may not be the best. I don't know, but suspect that a website
that claims to list top 10 of anything such as cloud storage, website hosting
or whatever may give the best rating to the service that gives them the best
affiliate check. Justcloud does have an affiliate link at the bottom of the
home page. Not saying they are good or bad.

Coincidentally I just now started to rsync my /data partition to a raspberry pi
with a USB hard drive connected. So, I would like to add another feather to
Feathers McGraw's hat. Goggling the pi to USB connection got me
to samhobbs.co.uk among others. Thank you Sam. Good info.

Opinions are like rear-ends, everybody has one. Here's mine. (|)
