stuff not supported for Linux, a list

A nice compact listing of what is not going to be supported or what has not and still won't be.

Actually, while there is some truth in that article, there is also a lot of half-truth. For instance Mozilla developers are working on an app store for Firefox on Linux, but it isn't ready so they aren't going to delay the working version for Windows. Picasso never was a Linux app, it ran under Wine. Flash isn't just dropping linux, it's dropping the whole separate client for it's new client. So far only Google's Chrome has bought in to the new client, so this will be an issue for Microsoft and Apple, too.

Personally, I think users won't care if these things don't work with the name brand version as long as they just work well on linux (for instance okular beats the pants off of acrobat).

Thanks for the post, though it was interesting to read. BTW how far is fly over country from Missouri?

      Hi...

Actually, it is. I have it installed as a native application. The "About Picasa" Window confirms this, Wine has nothing to do with this version.

As far as the rest of the article goes, I'm sorry to hear of these developments, especially concerning Flash Player.

      Regards...

Actually it isn't native. It just used a pre-bundled custom version of wine.

Actually, there's not much there that breaks my heart. Most of the apps referred to have better options in linux anyway. Okular, much better than Acrobat. At first I was frustrated by the lack of Picassa in linux, but found digikam and was amazed and glad for the switch. After the privacy issues with Google earlier this year I dropped every association I had with Google, so it's lack is no issue. Personally IMO linux will eventually will be THE os of the future, if for no other reason than cost. Watching the statistics, I believe it is very shortsighted of these corporations to drop linux developement at this time. Do we here crying in the future?
