    Switching Steam Library Drive

I have been trying to find something online about why switching my Steam library folder to another drive isn't working, but I cannot find anything. I have followed all of the steps that I can find on the subject, which is:
    • Make sure drive is mounted.
    • Make sure drive is formatted to ext4.
    • Go to steam settings in top right corner.
    • Navigate to storage tab.
    • Click to open drop-down menu with listed drives.
    • Click add drive.
    • Click on the drive I want my new Steam library folder.
    • Nothing happens.
Can someone please help me. I'm not sure if I'm doing something wrong or what.

It sounds like you’re doing the right steps, so this might be more of a permission or mounting issue rather than Steam itself. Even if the drive is mounted and formatted to ext4, Steam sometimes won’t react if it doesn’t have proper write permissions to that mount point.

You could try checking ownership of the drive folder and make sure your user has full read/write access. Also, verify how the drive is mounted, for example via fstab, and ensure it’s not mounted as root-only. Another thing worth trying is manually creating a folder on that drive and then selecting that exact folder in Steam instead of just the drive.

Restarting Steam after mounting can also help.
