Hi I change over to Kubutu 9.10 load gnome-games and tried to start sudoku looks like it is going to load then goes away any help would be great.

Works fine here.
Try starting it from a terminal (konsole) and see if it prints out any error messages.
There is also ksudoku (part of kdegames) and sudoku (a text screen based version).
