    morphing

Hi, I'm looking for a program that will morph a sequence of photos into a small movie. So far Google has not led me to anything useful. What I want is something quick and dirty that will do the job.

    Is images2mpg suitable ?

    man images2mpg
    NAME
images2mpg - MPEG portfolio images multiplexer

    DESCRIPTION
The ’images2mpg’ bash script convert some images on MPEG sequences with
a specific duration and merge all images on an single MPEG file. It use
    the MjpegTools and ImageMagick packages.

You can use it from the CLI or by using kipi-plugins:

Gwenview > Plugins > Tools > Create Mpeg Slide Show
KSquirrel > KIPI Plugins > Tools > Create Mpeg Slide Show

You need all the bits and pieces > Topic: Kipi Help

    There is also mencoder:
    MPlayer's Movie Encoder
A simple movie encoder, designed to encode MPlayer-playable movies
    (AVI/ASF/OGG/DVD/VCD/VOB/MPG/MOV/VIV/FLI/RM/NUV/NET) to other
MPlayer-playable formats. It can encode with various codecs, like DivX4 (1
or 2 passes), libavcodec, PCM/MP3/VBRMP3 audio. Also has stream copying and
    video resizing abilities.

      Re: morphing

Thank you for answering. But is this a morphing program?

What I am looking for is a program that will make gradual transitions between the pictures, so that there is given a feeling that there is real movement. The way I have done this in Windows, one will pinpoint the eyes, the nose, some points in the mouth area, the chin etc. I cannot see how this could be done other than in a GUI program?

Or, to explain what I want to do. For my younger granddaughter I have video from when they were just borne. The oldest one, just a sequence of snapshots. So, as she is now in a short time expecting her own first child, I want to make a video of her as newborne, so as to have a video of the new mother, her sisters and her baby - all at the same age.

        Re: morphing

From the repositories, searching with "morph" :

xmorph - digital image warp and morph (x11)
Xmorph loads, saves, warps, and dissolves images, and loads, saves, creates,
and manipulates control meshes which determine the warping. The technique
was invented and first used by Industrial Light and Magic, and is commonly
        called "morphing".
gtkmorph - Digital image warp and morph (gtk)
gtkmorph loads, saves, warps, and dissolves images, and loads, saves,
creates, and manipulates control meshes which determine the warping. The
technique was invented and first used by Industrial Light and Magic, and is
        commonly called "morphing."

gtkmorph is a GUI for libmorph, using GTK. It has many features, as the
support for making movies automatically (it needs extra packages).
gtkmorph-example, digital image warp and morph, examples
This package contains an example session, that can be used also with xmorph.
libmorph - digital image warping library
libmorph warps images; the warping technique was invented and first used by
Industrial Light and Magic, and is commonly called "morphing."
libmorph also contains utilities to handle control meshes, that are
line grids that are used to design an image warp.

Thanks for your effort. To use the programs, however, is quite beyond me. I can probably make a distortion warp, but that's it.

Oh, well, I have dual boot Windows.
