    Time display

Maybe it's me who can't find the setting but I would prefer to have timestamps displayed as 24h rather than AM/PM.

How the time is displayed in vBulletin is a global, not an individual, setting. If we set the time to 24-hour format, it will be that way throughout the forum.

On some boards it's possible via individual settings. Maybe this is a achieved through a mod? If so, it's one I'd like to see installed.
I'd rather be locked out than locked in.

Seconded, especially if it would also allow users to customise the date format. For those of us outside of the USA, Month-Day-Year format is unfamiliar and awkward.

(According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Date_format_by_country, most of the world uses Day-Month-Year.)

Snowhog is correct; alas, vB lacks per-user date formatting. A quick Google search resulted in lots of people asking for this, but no immediately obvious mods.

              That's a shame.

Is it possible to make the month display as Jan, Feb, Mar, etc., instead of as a number? At least that would be unambiguous for users of all nationalities.

That's reasonable; I just made the change.

This is from a vb4 board, androidquestions.org. This is what we want here. Should be a standard and reliable mod.

The month-as-letters change is a good step.

Thank you, I'm finding it much easier to mentally parse dates on the forum now.

No more mistaking dates like 01-02-2012 for the first of February for me!

Hm. I just registered an account there, then checked the HTML source on the account settings page. They're running the same version of vB as we are, and nothing in the HTML jumped out at me as this being a mod (I was hoping to see a comment or something). Definitely worth investigating, as I agree this would be valuable. Personally, I prefer the format YYYY-MM-DD HH:MM. It's the best for sorting.

The guy who operates the site, Jeremy, is the same one who's operated linuxquestions.org (which is still on vb3) for ages. He may be open to a bit of mutual board admin advice!

                            Question sent!

BTW...I found a mod for vB 3. Dunno whether it'll work on vB 4, though.

The tree letter month is a nice way, that's what my previous boss demanded in our reports and it worked.
yyyy-mm-dd is what I use for large collections of photo's because it sorts well.
