    Character limit in PMs

So...I was attempting to reply [in my typical verbose manner] via PM [to an equally verbose member], and got a message that my post was too long. Imagine that! It said there was a 5,000 character limit. After much editing, including the complete removal of the OP's quoted PM, I finally got it down below 5,000 characters.

How about increasing that limit to something more realistic, like, say 25,000 characters? (I'm only halfway kidding.)

    Done.

Do try however, to limit the size of PM's. They are designed to be for short communiques. If longer correspondence is necessary, requesting permission to email a member is appropriate -- I've done that many times -- and the member so requested usually (but not always) doesn't object.

    That said, PM away!

Thanks, SH. And will do on the e-mail request thing.
